Overview
Co-founded BearStudio, a design and front-end agency based in Nantes. Led design and development across 20+ projects for clients in France and internationally, spanning SaaS, e-commerce, institutional, and startup contexts.
The problem
A different problem to solve every 6 weeks
Running an agency means solving a different problem every 6 weeks. The challenge was building a methodology that could be applied to any project, delivering high-quality work on tight budgets and timelines, and building a team culture where design quality was non-negotiable. The recurring pain point: the gap between what was designed and what was built.
How I approached it
Storybook-first development as agency standard
I introduced Storybook-driven development as our agency standard — every component built first as an isolated, documented unit before integration. This transformed handoff from an event into a continuous process. I also formalised our discovery phase: every project began with a structured workshop, no exceptions. This reduced scope creep, improved client alignment, and produced better work — even on small budgets.
“The gap between what was designed and what was built was our biggest enemy. Storybook-driven development was how we closed it permanently.”
Results
20+ projects, two multi-year retainer clients, studio sold in 2020
20+ projects delivered across 4 years. Developed a repeatable agency methodology adopted across all client work. Built and mentored a team of 4 designers and 3 developers. Two clients became multi-year retainer partners as a direct result of design quality. Studio sold to a regional digital group in 2020.
